Glad’s Applique Display

A few weeks ago I went to a quilt exhibit at Glad Creations in Minneapolis.   The quilts were the work of Gladys Raschka, a truly accomplished quilter, and founder of the quilt shop.  Here’s some information about her from the Glad website:

Glad comes from a long tradition of quiltmaking. Both her mother and grandmother made quilts. She made her first quilt about 50 years ago and has brought ceaseless energy to the family-owned quilt shop since it opened in 1976. Customers, friends, and family all marvel at her wonderful hand appliqué and hand quilting. Glad’s eye for color and pattern in her appliqué, along with her fine techniques have won her a faithful following. She was named Minnesota Quilter of the Year in 1999.

Take a look at some of the beautiful quilts I saw.

And my favorite:

I invited my friend Mary to join me.  We had lunch at Turtle Bread and then  viewed these lovely quilts.  What a fun day.
