Spring Quilt

April 21, 2013

36 degrees, cloudy and gray, snow on the ground. If you’re like me, and most Minnesotans,  you’re sick of having winter in spring.  Come on already, Mother Nature!  Let’s move on.  I need sun and warmth and tulips blooming.

I saw this free quilt pattern from Moda on Bonnie Hunter’s Quiltville Facebook Page and it gave me a glimpse  of spring.  I had a vision of this as a tablecloth on my picnic table with my red dishes and a bouquet of flowers.  Sigh.

It’s called Glamping= glamour + camping.  Designed by Mary Jane Butters.

or here for the  Glamping pdf with all the instructions for free.

Maybe if we all make one of these quilts and chant “Winter, winter, go away. Come again another day.  Quilting friends just want to play” (and be warm, wear sandals, and eat outside) it’ll work and spring will have finally sprung!

If you haven’t already, “like” Bonnie Hunter’s Quiltville facebook page.  So much inspiration!

Free Quilting Patterns

January 14, 2012

Cruising the web this morning, I found some free quilting patterns.  The first was a group of five ebooks from McCalls.  All I had to do was sign up for their newsletter and wah lah,  I was instantly taken to the download links.  In about 5 minutes, I had five quilt books on my desktop.   Some patterns are nicer than others of course.  There are several I’d like to make.  Some would definitely make nice charity quilts.  Click on the link to get copies for yourself.

The second freebie I found was a table runner by Kari Nichols.  It’s posted on the McCalls Editors’ Blog.  I’ve been looking for a long runner for my table, so I just may try this one.  It’s 52 1/2 in long.

The Fourth Day of Christmas in July

July 23, 2011

On the Fourth day of Christmas my love of quilting brought to me:

This is a fresh little line from Moda (of course) designed by Kate Spain.  I think the panel would be interesting to work with.  Although I love, love, love red and green, I also like the option of adding a little blue.

Moda is offering a free pattern.

And . . . I found this quilt kit from Prairie Queens Quilt Shop.
