Jo Morton Fabric Lust

March 31, 2012

Love Jo Morton fabric.  Always have.  But now she has a new line called Bridgeport that I love, love, love!  It’s got to be my favorite to date.  Lots of black with red and tan; my favorite colors.  Oh, and did I tell you there’s a paisley?  Yummy.

Head over to  Andover Fabrics  to check out the whole collection.  I pretty sure I’m going to have to get the whole line this time.  You know, one of those fat quarter stacks that you just have to fondle and play with.

Another bonus is a free pattern from Andover called a Box of Chocolates.  You can get it at the Andover website. There’s lots of other patterns to check out too.

Or download it here: Bridgeport

Luckily I still have a gift certificate to my local quilt shop.  May have to make a visit there today.  I’d have to pick the paisley as my favorite.  Which one do you like best?

Quilt Geek

January 20, 2012

I downloaded a quilting app for my iPhone.  It’s called QuiltCalc.  I gave it a quick try, but I’m anxious to use it more.  There are options to figure yardage of backing, binding, borders.  You can also enter the size of a piece and how many required and figure out how much fabric you need.  How fun is that?

Siri find iTunes.

Now if I could only get Siri to cut out my quilts.

Last Chance Free Pattern

July 31, 2011

Bonnie Hunter is one of my favorite quilt people online.  She’s full of so much passion and amazingly prolific.  Wish I got 1/4 of the quilts done that she does.  I’d be thrilled. Anyway . . . today is the last day to get her mystery quilt pattern, Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll for free.

Go to her blog where you can download and print a copy for yourself.

Enjoy,

Oh, Christmas Tree , Oh Christmas Tree, how lovely are your branches . . .

Here’s a cute little tree designed by Amy using Kate Spain’s new line Flurry.  Visit Moda’s Bake Shop for a tutorial.

I’m back from my vacation, and it was fantastical.   So, Christmas in July will probably extend into Christmas in August.  Stay tuned.

The Fifth Day of Christmas in July

July 24, 2011

On the fifth day of Christmas in July, my love of quilting brought to me:

Christmas_Melody

This is another Moda fabric collection designed by Sentimental Studios.  I always love a little black in my Christmas fabric and that’s what I like most about this line.

A quick search didn’t produce any projects today.  What would you make out of this?

I’m heading up to the North Shore of Lake Superior today, my favorite summer destination.    I’ll be doing a little mini shop hop, so I’ll post my treasures when I get back.

The Fourth Day of Christmas in July

July 23, 2011

On the Fourth day of Christmas my love of quilting brought to me:

12_Days_of_Christmas

This is a fresh little line from Moda (of course) designed by Kate Spain.  I think the panel would be interesting to work with.  Although I love, love, love red and green, I also like the option of adding a little blue.

Moda is offering a free pattern.

And . . . I found this quilt kit from Prairie Queens Quilt Shop.

On the third day of Christmas in July, my love of quilting brought to me:

Grinch Fabric

The Grinch is one of my all time favorite Christmas stories.  Isn’t this fabric great?  I’m going to order the panel and see what I can do with it.

The Second Day of Christmas in July

July 21, 2011

On the second day of Christmas my love of quilting gave to me, a free tree skirt pattern.

Stars All Around Tree Skirt

This is a free pattern from EZ quilt and was designed by Darlene Zimmerman. The skirt has a large central star with smaller stars around it.  It only requires two fabrics, although it could  be made scrappy as well.

I found a variation made by Jo of Jo’s Country Junction.  Check it out on her blog.  Nice work Jo.
